23rd January- EB exploring at the bottom of my parents' garden.

24th January-'The Bounty' according to NB.

25th January- Little ones had made cupcakes and I did get a gorgeous composed shot of EB, then this one, which captures her perfectly.

26th January- Australia Day, NB shows the little ones how to Slip' n' Slide. (Note: NB also showed the littles ones how to pop the Slip' n' Slide)

27th January- My father-in-law received Romeo & Juliet for Christmas. (iphone)

28th January- A scene from Barbie's lesser known DVD "After the Carnage", otherwise known as the playroom after the girls have finished with it.

29th January- At Ladies' morning tea with RB, Paul Kelly's "From Little Things, Big Things Grow" came on and she had to start singing (a personal favourite in this house).  (iphone)

Project 365: 16th-22nd January

16th January- This curious little visitor turned up at our back door. NB and the children went and found him a terrific home near water (as we have none).

17th January- NB taking over cooking duties for the night.

18th January- My BMX Bandits.

19th January- Having dinner over at our lovely friends' place, RB was thrilled to have a ride on their horse. (iphone)

20th January- Felt like a proper Mum, made playdough for the little ones. They loved it. I should really do it more often...

21st January- Met up with family in Young. This is EB and her cousin PS (also 2yrs) holding hands on the couch. (iphone)

22nd January- Love that in the middle of a fairly heavy storm, the owner of the place where we stayed still had his sprinkler on. Good effort.

Project 365: 9th-15th January

9th January- NB installing the new heater/fan in the bathroom after painting the ceiling

10th January- EB enjoying a bubble bath

11th January- RB starts school this year and since she was tiny I have pictured her going to school in shoes like these.

12th January- My sister (DS) got these groovy little toothbrush timers for the kids for Christmas. They've been a hit.

13th January- AB frightened the life out of me. I thought it was a spider but it turned out to be a cicada shell (not quite so gross). He thought he was hilarious. (iphone)

14th January- EB playing in Nonna's garden eating Nonno's snake beans. Love how she has almost the same pose as the statue. (iphone)

15th January- at Ladies' morning tea with just RB, she is going through the menu picking out the letters that she knows. (iphone)

Project 365: 2nd-8th January

I realised pretty quickly this week that my 'photo a day' would not always be taken with my much loved 5D mark ii. Just not practical to pop in my pocket on the way into town! However, how lucky we all are to live in an age with camera phones.

So here's the week that was...

2nd January- AB exercising his need for speed

3rd January- Diesel Dog surveying his land

4th January- Tea time with RB

5th January- It's easy to see the value of a new door handle when you are locked in the toilet.

6th January- R & A get their snazzy 'Back to school' haircuts. RB totally rocks the bob. (iphone)

7th January- First visit to Lake Talbot swimming pools and water slides. Great place. Downloaded a groovy iphone app to create photos that look a bit like those from when we were little. Good fun. (iphone)

8th January- I shouldn't have scoffed at the boys' backyard chicken breeding program...

365 Project Day 1!

I have long admired photographers who participate in the 365 Project. The idea is simple, take a photograph each day of the year to document a kind of 'year in the life'. Each and every day of the year. The 'every day' part has seemed hugely daunting to me, but this year I have decided to give it a try. I cannot promise I will have a perfect record, but I'm going to give it a red hot go.

I'm hoping to do a weekly post which will show the 7 days of that week. There is no way I can put them up each day, but weekly seems a little more manageable.

Today's however, I thought I'd pop up on it's own.

SO here's the story behind it. Today's temp is 42c. Our air conditioner stopped working two days ago and we can't get anyone out to fix it till after the public holiday. Instead, the little ones are out the back cooling off 'old school' by running through the sprinklers and the littlest one was lapping it up (literally) in the clam. Good times.
